Besides symptom management, what are the long-term benefits of hormone replacement therapy and what are the risks?
Many women are concerned about potential long-term risks of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The controversial results of the women’s health initiative study had a whole generation fear HRT for the implicated increase in breast cancer risk.
Our new guidebook summarizes the benefits and risks on various types of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and other comorbidities, giving a clear overview of the long-term advantages and disadvantages of estrogen therapy and combination therapies with estrogen and progesterone.
The guidebook was developed together with the gynecologists Dr. Susanna Weidlinger and Dr. Sabrina Vollrath from the women’s clinic at the Inselspital in Bern.
