Sheila de Liz, MD, studied medicine in Mainz, Germany, and has been running her own practice for gynecology and obstetrics since 2006. After years of dealing with insecure women and underinformed healthcare professionals, Dr. de Liz decided to speak out about this issue. After her first book in 2019, "Outrageous. All About the Fabulous Female Body," her second book, "Woman on Fire. All about the fabulous menopause" followed in 2020. Finally, in the summer of 2022, her third book "Girl on Fire. Everything about the fabulous puberty" was published. In her practice she often met women who hardly dared to talk about the unpleasant side effects of menopause and for whom the processes in the female body were a great mystery. At the same time, she observed how gynecologists often fail to inform their patients in a comprehensible way, both before, during and after menopause.
Informing in a way that everyone understands
The aim of the books is to de-taboo female health and help openly supposedly unpleasant topics Menopause also has its positive sides and should certainly be no taboo topic. The book "Woman on Fire" informs about the physiological changes during menopause menopause and gives tips on how to deal with menopausal symptoms of any kind. The humorous, light-hearted way to address medical as well as social issues that women face during menopause makes for an equally light and educational read.
